FLR - Fundação Leal Rios
Partıcıpant
Founded in 2012, FLR – Fundação Leal Rios’ main objectives are to present, promote, maintain and preserve the works and artists represented in its collection of contemporary art, as well as to promote contemporary art in a broader sense. Through its work, the Foundation has sought to explore new ways of relating the communities it addresses to artistic expression and its intrinsic meaning and significance.
In addition to more conventional media such as painting, sculpture, drawing and photography, the collection also focuses on video, art installation and time-based media. It focuses mainly on Portuguese works and artists from the 1960s to the 1990s, and on the formation of contextualised groups of works by Portuguese and foreign artists from the 1980s to the present, without any disciplinary limits.
Today, part of the FLR’s contemporary art collection is deposited at the Serralves Museum, in order to diversify the public and broaden the horizons of its activities, which is a milestone in its journey.
To ensure that FLR’s efforts have impact and are in line with a broader sustainability agenda, its programme prioritises diversity, inclusion, cohesion and mobility. Through the collection itself, the promotion of established and emerging artists, the hosting of recent graduates or students, the creation of national and international partnerships, always with an eye to the future, in the hope of contributing to a future more open to culture.
